SlideshowReport

An example of a homeostatically controlled variable: blood levels of glucose in a human.

Description
Note that glucose levels in the plasma rise or fall depending on whether an animal has recently eaten. However, even after a sugary meal or a prolonged fast, homeostatic mechanisms either return glucose levels to normal (around 5.0 mmol/L) or enable those levels to remain within the range required for survival.
