Development of epithelial appendages

Tags
Description
(a) Epithelial appendages begin as an outgrowth of the epidermis and dermis. In the development of feathers and hair, this outgrowth gives way to the formation of a follicle. (b) The difference between the identities of different epithelial appendages, such as scales and feathers, are caused, in part, by the timing and level of early signalling events.
