If someone has no compassion at all and is extremely selfish what stops him from becoming the most evil monster of the planet?

Furthermore, this is not the MAIN CRITICISM against stupid selfish individualism. Even those who become millionaires CAN BE STRUCK BY MISFORTUNE and not only lose everything but also be thrown in a situation where their health and their lives can be put under serious danger. Should then society be callous and indifferent to their tragic and miserable fate?

We can observe in nature that most social animals show some degree of solidarity to their unfortunate members. Randians are even more primitive and stupid than these animals.

The randomness and UNPREDICTABILITY OF LIFE can struck anyone ( rich or poor ). That is why societies have to have a security net ( social benefits ) to help or save the lives of unfortunate people.

What do her looks have anything to do with it? I am not a follower of Rand, however I enjoyed her books because they make me think about things differently. Atlas Shrugged was/is one of my favorite novels. Note: it is a novel, not non-fiction.
