Description
Stand facing the side of the table and apply cross-handed stretches for the subcutaneous fascia. Place your hand closest to the client’s head near the ilium in the lumbar area; place your other hand on the thoracic region on the same side; arms will be crossed. Engage the tissue, and gradually spread your hands farther apart until you sense tension in the tissues between your hands. Without gliding on the skin, hold that tension comfortably for 2–3 minutes until you feel your hands move further apart slightly as the tissue releases. Apply this technique in several directions on the back, and try it with one hand on the left side and the other hand on the right side of the spine.
