Spring for the Crane and Deer. Beginning position: Legs straight and together, arms at sides of body. 1. Gradually raise arms to sides at shoulder height and flex wrists to press Tia Yuan, Da Ling, and Shen Men points; hands should be hooked with thumb over index finger; rotate head left (inhale). 2. Step the right foot back crossed behind the left foot and bend the knees; elbows sink down and wrists flex; hands face forward; keep looking left. Lower the body and the hands; end in a squat looking left (exhale). 3. Gradually raise your body, straighten right leg behind left leg, keeping left leg bent softly; raise wrists and arms from front of body to sides of ears with hooked hands, thumb over index finger; extend arms to full extension (inhale). 4. Release tension and relax, softly lower arms and palms from front to sides of body; right foot returns to center. End with hands at sides and legs together (exhale). Alternate left and right sides (one cycle). Perform two cycles.
