Oxygen affinity of hemoglobin as a function of pH

Description
A decrease in blood pH results in stabilization of the deoxy state and thereby favors greater O2 released from hemoglobin.

This response of hemoglobin to pH change is called the Bohr effect.

      Hb4O2 + 4H+ ----> Hb4H+ + 4O2
