Augustus of Primaporta "أغسطس من بريما بورتا"

Description
Forum Boarium (Cattle Market), Rome. Late 2nd century BCE.

Octavian assumed power in 44 CE and was conferred the title "Augustus."
To facilitate the development of the empire, the Roman state undertook building programs of unprecedented scale and complexity.
Roman builders and architects developed plans using easily worked materials.

Roman artists of the Augustan age created a new style—a new Roman form of idealism that is heavily influenced by a revival of Greek Classical ideals.
They enriched the art of portraiture, they recorded historical events on public monuments, and contributed to Roman imperial propaganda.

Augustus of Primaporta
In the work, we see the emperor as he wanted to be seen and remembered.
The detail is naturalistic enough to be recognizable as Augustus, but his portraiture was also political propaganda.
The sculptor added mythological and historical imagery that exalts Augustus' family and celebrates his works.
