The placenta, responsible for feeding the baby in the uterus, begins to build at the beginning of your pregnancy. For the formation of new cells, the necessary nutrients and oxygen from the mother are carried to the baby. It sends back the harmful and the material items coming from the blood to the mother's body. While gasses, foodstuffs and wagons are exchanged between mother and infant blood, this shopping between the two circulatory systems occurs without mixing the blood.

Although studies have shown that harmful substances are filtered from the placenta, the researchers found that the risk of low birth weight, short neonatal period, shortening of the gestational age, spontaneous abortion, frequent complications during pregnancy and labor.
