Description
(a) In bacteria that lack a cell nucleus, transcription and translation occur in the cytoplasm. Because of this lack of spatial separation, translation of an mRNA can begin before its transcription is complete. (b) In eukaryotes, transcription and RNA processing occur in the nucleus, while translation takes place in the cytosol. Thus, transcription and RNA processing are completed before translation begins.
