(a) This schematic drawing shows the arrangement of the matrix within a cell nucleus. The nuclear lamina is a collection of fibrous proteins that line the inner nuclear membrane. The internal nuclear matrix is also composed of protein fibres and many other proteins associated with them. (b) The radial loops are attached to the protein fibres of the nuclear matrix.
