Post by: Cologicoon on Feb 2, 2018 Many studies have demonstrated that it is possible to teach an acceptable communicative act using AAC to obtain a desired goal. The acceptable AAC-based communicative acts then replace the unacceptable challenging behaviors as communication means. When AAC techniques, including manual sign, communication boards, and SGDs are used to reduce challenging behavior by providing effective and acceptable means of communication, this type of intervention is known as Functional Communication Training (FCT).
