Title: somatic cell contains 40 picograms of DNA during G2 how many in gamete?
Post by: Gamete on Oct 15, 2014
I need help on how to resolve these questions. The more detailed the better Thank You in advance!!

If a somatic cell from a mouse contains 40 picograms of DNA during G2 of interphase, then how many picograms of DNA would be present in each cell during anaphase I of meiosis?

If a somatic cell from a frog contains 20 picograms of DNA during G2 of interphase, how many picograms of DNA would be present in each gamete produced by this species?

40 picogram... Anaphase I will contain 2n DNA.

If a somatic cell from a frog contains 20 picograms of DNA during G2 of interphase, how many picograms of DNA would be present in each gamete produced by this species?

G2 there is 20 pg of DNA

During S phase, the content will double (40 pg of DNA)

Eventually, this 40 picograms will be distributed among 4 gametes.

So, there will be half the content there was in G2 in each gamete, thus, 10 pg of DNA per gamete is the answer.
