Title: Where would you expect to find a receptor for growth hormones?
Post by: runner2392 on Mar 9, 2012
Growth hormone is a protein signaling molecule.
a) cytoplasm of target cell
b) extracellular surface of target cell
c) intracellular surface of target cell
d) nucleus of target cell

growth hormones signal cells to amplify.. so wouldn't the signal have to come from outside the cell?

"The growth hormone receptor has been shown to be an integral membrane protein. Growth hormone receptors contain a carbohydrate component associated with the extracellular domain of the receptor in conjunction with the growth hormone-binding site." link: http://www.hghhormonesupplements.com/growth-hormone-receptor.php (http://www.hghhormonesupplements.com/growth-hormone-receptor.php)

guess i could have just googled it
