Title: What are the vascular structures seen in this cross section image of a cucumber (complex tissue) ? Post by: Mik_Lee on Sep 26, 2019 I am just having difficulty differentiating the different vasculure structures of this image. I believe I see the xylem, phloem and maybe sieve elements or companion cells. Any assistance would be appreciated
Please find the cucumber cross section image attached Title: Re: What are the vascular structures seen in this cross section image of a cucumber (complex tissue) ... Post by: bio_man on Sep 26, 2019 Is that the cross-section of its stem?
This image shows a cucumber stem with good collenchyma: (http://plato.acadiau.ca/courses/biol/kristie/biol2043/cuke-collenchyma.jpg) Title: Re: What are the vascular structures seen in this cross section image of a cucumber (complex tissue) ... Post by: Mik_Lee on Sep 26, 2019 Hello! Yes, this is the cross section of its stem. We are supposed to identify complex tissue structures.

(http://cdn.biologydiscussion.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/clip_image0268.jpg) From this we see: 1) looks like a vascular bundle 2) looks like sclerenchyma 3) looks like collenchyma (https://i.pinimg.com/originals/e3/88/68/e3886819768ffbb1403b254d3ba1b319.jpg) Title: Re: What are the vascular structures seen in this cross section image of a cucumber (complex tissue) Post by: duddy on Sep 26, 2019 Too specific .. the OP wants phloem, xylem, etc.
(http://bio1520.biology.gatech.edu/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/Figure_30_02_06.jpg?w=640) 1-xylem 2-phloem 3-sclerenchyma My guess ^^ |
