Title: Bio 30 - Genetics???
Post by: ajoshi01 on Jun 16, 2012
The cross-over percentage between linked genes:

    J and M = 20%
    J and N = 70%
    M and N = 50%
    J and L  = 35%
    L and K  = 15%
    M and L = 15%

Find the sequence of genes on this chromosome?

It's a numerical response question, but I'm confused as to what it is asking for!! Thanks!! ??? :thi:

J M L K N

Though the JN and MN distances make this a mathematical and not genetic exercise.

they're asking for the order that the genes will appear, remember map units of chromosomes.
between J and M is 20% or 20 map units. so first thing you would do is place J down and place an M on either side

  M-----20-----J-----20----M

Sorry My internet went weird on me and posted that and now I can`t seem to edit it :s but I drew up an explanation. The question is asking for the order that the genes are in. The percentage is the distance or map units between the two so J and N are 70% so they are 70 map units apart, from my understanding. SO you can find the distances and order from the given information.
