Title: Evolutionary consequences if crossing over in meiosis did not occur?

I know that if crossing over did occur during meiosis there would be less genetic variation within the species. But I need two consequences and I only have one. Could someone please provide me with a second evolutionary consequence.. and explain it so I can understand. Thanks  :)

Advantages of Meiosis

1. Tremendous storehouse of genetic variation provides for adaptations to changing environment

2. Asexual organisms depend primarily on mutations to generate variation

3. Meiosis produces genetic variation

I think that the evolutionary advantage to meiosis is that it enables a variety of different organisms.

And when they aren't all exactly the same (using mitosis), it can help an animal by allowing change to help the organism adapt to it's environment like the process of mutation.

If the process never evolved, biodiversity as we know it today wouldn't exist.
