Title: AP Physics or Differential Equations?
Post by: lgood4 on Aug 9, 2012
Next year I will be a senior. I plan on majoring in BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING and therefore must take ap bio next year. To take ap bio I need to get rid of either differential equations or ap physics: electricity and magnetism.

Differential equations looks good because it is the absolute highest math you can take. ap physics looks good because its ap physics. (I took ap physics: mechanics last year)
my other classes for next year are:
Ap english lit
Ap computer science iii
Ap calculus bc
Ap environmental science
French iv honors

So should I get rid of ap physics e & m or differential equations for ap bio? Which would look better to a college or increase my chances of getting in? Thanks :)

One can only begin to imagine the myriad of uses English Literature will have for a biomedical engineer. Seriously, drop the lit and take both DEs and Physics. DEs are awesome, and you'll need to know them as an engineer anyway (maybe not so much in biomed, but I suspect that you'll see your fair share.) E&M is a sweet branch of Physics as well. You'll get to learn about calculating electric and magnetic fields from ring and disks and that sort of thing.

Granted, neither field is for the faint-hearted, and lit is certainly a lot easier, but I think the two other courses will be much more helpful (not to mention 100x more impressive.)
