In a diagram of the process of protein synthesis DNA would most likely be what?

1. serve as a pattern for the synthesis of messenger RNA
2. carry a code determined by the original DNA molecule from the nucleus to the cytoplasm
3. pick up and transfer specific amino acids to the cytoplasm
4. pick up and transfer nucleic acids to the nucleus

1) mRNA is used to make proteins. It bonds with tRNA to form the chain of amino acids. DNA makes RNA.

Why the others are wrong:

2) it implies a DNA molecule made another DNA molecule, which randomly went into the cytoplasm. This isnt related to protein synthesis.

3/4) DNA doesn't do those things.
