Title: Mother's blood type if husband is B and daughter is O+...?
Post by: datpiff on Aug 29, 2012
Hi. I just found out that my blood type is O positive. I remember my Dad tellin gme that his blood type is B. Now, I want to know what blood type possibilities my mother has. She doesn't know her blood type. I was just wondering though. Might come in handy.

Your mother could be A, B or O.

Your father has the genotype BO. Because A and B are dominant and O is recessive, he displays the B-type. This means you had to inherit the O-gene from him. You also inherited the O gene from your mother. This means she can have genotypes AO, BO or OO, meaning she can be A, B or O, but not AB.

Not sure about the rhesus factor. I think one of your parents has to be rhesus positive for you to be positive as well.

What he said above .... rh+ factor is dominant also, so one parent must be rh+.
