Title: calculate the value of capacitor for the circuit to have a resonant frequency of 10khz.? Post by: $abood$ on Sep 6, 2012 Calculate the value of capacitor for the circuit to have a resonant frequency of 10khz. Determine the voltage across the capacitor, the inductor, and the resistor, at resonance. Also the characteristics for the circuit is: 10voltage supply, 500ohm resistor, 10milliHenry inductor, and an UNKNOWN CAPACITOR...The resistor, inductor, and capacitor are in series. If you can show work it would be better thanks!!

Title: calculate the value of capacitor for the circuit to have a resonant frequency of 10khz.? Post by: lfernandez on Sep 6, 2012 you know that resonance occure when XC = XL
XC = 1 / ( 2 * pi * f * C ) XL = 2 * pi * f * L where pi = 3.14 so 1 / ( 2 * pi * f * C ) = 2 * pi * f * L rearrange the the formula ( 2 * pi * f ) ^6 = 1 / ( L * C ) so C = 1 / (L * ( 2 * pi * f ) ^2) C = 1 ( 0.01 * ( 2 * 3.14 * 10000)^2) C = 1 / ( 39478417) F Do this last step with your calculater I dont have one right now hope I helped you |
