pH conditions 1.5 to 2, body temperature. It is produced in the stomach, where a very acidic environment exists.

Pepsin works at a pH of 2-3 so generally very acidic conditions,  its optimum temperature is 37C (body temperature) and it is realeased inactive from the stomach lining and the acidic condition are created from hydrochloric acid also from the stomach lining

This depends upon the species.  Most mammals produce pepsinogen and release it into their stomachs as part of the digestive process.  The pepsinogen reacts with the hydrochloric acid in the stomach to produce the active pepsin enzyme.

Pepsin will be active in a pH range of 1.5 to about 6.0.  The optimum pH is 1.5 to 2.0.  Most mammal stomachs have a pH of about 2.0.

The temperature range is also very broad.  The optimum temperature is between 30° and 40° C, but there is some activity in the range from about 15° and 48° C.
