Title: We're doing a lab in biology on how different levels of saline solution affect photosynthesis?

We're using a Water displacement assay with elodea plants, and so far the 2% salt water solution (1.5 grams salt in 75 ml of water) is photosynthesizing a heck of a lot more than all the others (0%, 4%, 6%, 8%) and we're not sure why.
Any Ideas?

Could just be that you have a healthier plant in the 2% solution than the 0% solution.

Most scientists would have a huge set of plants in each solution to have useful results.  I am assuming you only have one plant for each solution.  If you expanded the experiment to maybe a dozen plants per solution, then took the average rate of photosynthesis for each, you would get results closer to what you expected.

And also consider the size and number of leaves on each plant.  Is the 2% plant bigger than the 0% one?
