One of the primary issues was the lack of infrastructure for transportation and communication. This made it difficult for farmers and manufacturers to transport their goods to markets and to communicate with potential buyers. Another issue was the lack of a national currency. This made it difficult for people to conduct business across state lines and to establish a stable pricing system. Additionally, the lack of a strong central government made it difficult to regulate trade and to enforce contracts. This led to a situation where people were often reluctant to engage in long-distance trade because they were unsure if they would be paid for their goods. Finally, the lack of access to foreign markets was a significant problem. The British Empire, which was the largest market for American goods, imposed high tariffs on American products, making it difficult for American merchants to compete. These factors combined to create a challenging environment for American businesses in the 1790s.

I hope this helps!
