Although the Treaty of Fort Laramie gave the Sioux the right to occupy the Black Hills for "as long as the grass shall grow," that agreement was rapidly overturned due to:
A) the lack of water in the region.
B) the demands of farmers for additional lands to homestead.
C) the discovery of gold in the Black Hills of the Dakotas.
D) the failure of the Sioux to stop raids on white settlers.
