The 1965 "Bloody Sunday" attack on civil rights marchers which occurred on the "Pettus Bridge" in Selma, Alabama and the subsequent compromise led to all of the following EXCEPT:
A) alabama officials promised they would not harm marchers.
B) mistrust of Martin Luther King, Jr. by more militant elements of the civil rights movement.
C) arrest of white toughs for beating a northern white minister to death.
D) demands for federal intervention.
