Title: Did I match these hormones (oxytocin, thyroxin, inuslin, acth) right?
Post by: rizzy81 on Sep 13, 2012
Oxytocin- stimulated utrine contraction during child birth
thyroxin- stimulated metabolic process
insulin- stimulated glycogen breakdown in nliver
acth- stimulated the release of glucorticoid by adrenal gland

Yes, great job.

They seem about right, here is a little more elaboration in case you may not know...

Hormones of Anterior Pituitary Gland (Adenohypophysis)
--ACTH-Increased glucocorticoid secretion, involved with the adrenal cortex
--Thyroxin (T4)- Regulates body metabolism and bone growth, also pivotal in brain and nervous system growth.
NOTE: This is a sub-hormone in the hormone Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). The other two are Triiodothyronine (T3) and Calcitonin.

Hormones of the Posterior Pituitary Hormone (Neurohypophysis)
--Oxytocin-Stimulates milk contractions as well as milk ejection from mammary glands (don?t get confused with Prolactin)

Islets that comprise the Pancreas
Alpha
Beta (Secretes Insulin) Allows for re-uptake of glucose from the bloodstream
Delta
