Post by: rizzamella on Sep 23, 2012
What are the coeffiecients for the reactants and products of the following reaction:
Ca(HCO3)2(s) + 2HCl(l) ---> X + Y + Z
Where X, Y, and Z are in the state order of aqueous (or solid), liquid, and gas.

Ca(HCO3)2 --1 or 2

HCl - 1 or 2

X - 1 or 2

Y - 1 or 2

Z - 1 or 2

So calcium bicarbonate reacts with hydrochloric acid to produce calcium chloride and carbonic acid. The resulting balanced reaction is Ca(H2CO3)2 + 2HCl ----> CaCl2 + 2H2CO3.
