a.   A researcher wants to know about the spending habits of teenagers in the community. The researcher randomly telephones 100 people to inquire about their spending habits

Sampling bias: 1) Using telephones as a way to conduct the study/survey where he might missed people a) who do not have a phone, b) who only have a cell phone that has an area code not in the region being surveyed c) who do not wish to be surveyed, including those who monitor calls on an answering machine and don't answer those from telephone surveyors
(take sample via telephones, online survey, mail, face-to-face by random walk etc.)

b.   The student council wants to know what theme they should use for an upcoming school dance. They ask five students from Grade 11 (it’s a Grade 9 to 12 school).
Sampling bias: 5 students selected only from Grade 11, Only Grade 11 was selected for the survey
(take sample of approximately 60% of students (more than 5 students) in each grade and take sample from Grade 9 to 12 as Grade 11 does not represent the entire school as it’s a Grade 9 to 12 school)
 ;)
