Title: What does the standard form of the equation of a line represent?
Post by: MoneyKing on Nov 7, 2012
Standard Form: Ax + By = C

x and y represent any ordered pair or coordinate that satisfies the graph.

A and B represent the slope, because (negative A divided by B = slope)

What does C represent?

C is the y-intercept (where along the y-axis the line passes when x=0)

standrd form is used to quickly find the x and y intercepts

try when x is zero what is y? c/b
when y is zero what is x? c/a

so c is used then to help find them
