Title: Can someone explain how the sodium-potassium pump returns the membrane to its resting potential?

From what I understand, after repolarization, the potential reaches below its resting potential, and the membrane wants to return to that resting potential, -70mV. To do this, the sodium-potassium pump ejects 3 Na ions and receives 2 K ions repeatedly. Since they're both positive ions, it seems to me that the inside of the membrane should become more negative, since during each transfer the net loss is one positive ion.

What am I missing?
