Suppose that in a fruit fly population the frequency of the recessive allele that codes for shirt wings (l) is 0.30. What would be the expected genotype frequencies in the next generation?

If the frequency of l is 0.3, the frequency of L is 1-0.3 = 0.7. The frequency of recessive homozygotes, ll, is (0.3)(0.3) = 0.09. The frequency of heterozygotes, Ll, is 2(0.3)(0.7) = 0.42. The frequency of dominant homozygotes, LL, is (0.7)(0.7) = 0.49.
