Determine the coordinates of the focus for the parabola y = 2x^2 - 8x + 3.

Put the equation into vertex form.
y = 2x² - 8x + 3
y = 2(x² - 4x) + 3
y = 2(x² - 4x + (-2)²) - 2(-2)² + 3
y = 2(x - 2)² - 5
This is an up-opening parabola with vertex (2, -5) and focal length 1/(4·2) = ?.
focus (2, -5+?) = (2, -4?)
