Title: Compare and contrast the processes of facilitated diffusion and active transport? Post by: Smoores on Jan 29, 2013 Compare and contrast the processes of facilitated diffusion and active transport
leave sources if possible, thanks. Title: Compare and contrast the processes of facilitated diffusion and active transport? Post by: juju2744 on Jan 29, 2013 They are alike because they both involve a concentration gradient. They are different because facilitated diffusion is a passive process, moves down a concentration gradient, requires no energy, and does not involve a carrier molecule within a membrane..
Title: Re: Compare and contrast the processes of facilitated diffusion and active transport? Post by: ecuello on Jan 31, 2013 Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
Facilitated diffusion is the movement of a substance using a transport molecule from high concentration to low concentration. Active transport is movement of a substance up a concentration gradient through a selectively permeable membrane using ATP to drive the process. Diffusion and facilitated diffusion move substances down a concentration gradient and does not require the use of ATP. |
