Title: Question about arousal
Post by: ausguerila on Apr 6, 2017
Does anyone know how a straight male does not have any arousal at a strip club, while viewing a pornographic video does?

Could be because the person has built a tolerance to seeing naked women through watching pornography.

That does not make sense to me. How would that be so?

I mean the more a person watches that junk, their tolerance for naked women decreases, so they're less satisfied when they see it in real life. It messes up your psychology.

That still does not make sense. I would understand your logic for someone in a relationship and the wife would force the male to feel like that.

I'm not sure what you're confused about. When you watch that stuff, you get to pick and choose what excites you. At a strip club, you don't get to choose, AND you don't get to touch the dancer.

So do you know how a straight male does not have any arousal at a strip club, while viewing a pornographic video does?

I've already stated my hypothesis. To summarize, with stuff you watch online, you have a choice of what turns you on. At the club, you don't. For example, you may prefer white girls, but the dancer is black. Are you asking this question from your own experience? It's possible that the time you went you were hungry, or full, or fearful. Those emotions prevent arousal too.

Good luck

Does anyone else have any ideas?

Erections come when you're attracted to that person. Maybe you're not attracted to anyone there and that's why no erection

Wouldn't you think that real nude women would be more arousing than videos on a screen?

They weren't however.

Are you a regular at this club?

Looks like it's normal:

As to answer you question scientifically, I can only speculate like the other member did. I'm not entirely sure

I have tried again. This time with a large dose of horny goat weed consumed with enough time to digest. The women are beautiful and still the same results.

What proof do you have that it wasn't a placebo effect?

I'm suggesting that it's possible you felt it working because you believed it would.

This is the mind over matter arguement. You only took it because YOU knew it might work, but what if it were any regular plant?

From looking at the ingredients, it is mostly plant and vitamins. Traditional aphrodisiacs to help support healthy libido to help fulfil masculine desires.

In terms of the mind over matter argument, I think you are looking too deep into superstition.

I took a physiology course in university where we had to imagine warm weather and cold weather t see how it would affect the blood temperature of our fingers that were conn cited to a sensor. If I recall correctly, most students were able to decreases there finger temperature due to vasoconstriction strictly by imagining it. There's nothing superstitious about it when it can be explained quantitatively. You're probably experiencing these gains because you think it's possible with this plant. As far as I'm concerned, the ingredients are oregano!

Thanks for that information. Does anyone else have an opinion?

Just to be clear, another opinion as to why that supplement worked or your original question?

Does anyone else have an opinion? Also does anyone know when this thread got moved from Anatomy and Physiology?

Hi

I think you're fine if you can't get hard at a strip joint. I don't think it's purpose is for that, but strictly for entertainment. Maybe if you were a teenager it'd have more of an effect on you libido, but the world has become so sexualized that seeing a pair of jugs isn't so effective anymore

Thats an interesting point of view. Do you know how a straight male does not have any arousal at a strip club, even after consuming a large dose of horny goat weed, while viewing a pornographic video does?

I was the one who moved it. It was posted in a homework board at first. Sounds more like a discussion topic than a homework question

Maybe because it's a farse?

Some men take horny goat weed in the belief that it’s a natural alternative to drugs for erectile dysfunction (ED). Although still preliminary, there’s new evidence to support the idea. A 2008 lab study found that a compound in the herb blocks the effects of an enzyme that restricts blood flow to the penis. Epimedium, the suspected active component of horny goat weed, appears to act as a phosphodiesterase inhibitor, similar to some drugs used for ED. What’s more, the study indicated that horny goat weed could theoretically work better -- and cause fewer side effects -- than current drugs for erectile dysfunction.

Although the study is promising, it’s based only on experiments in a laboratory. It’s too early to tell if horny goat weed will prove an effective and safe treatment in people.

Let's imagine for a second it works as good as Viagra, if you need a substance like that to cause an erection, then you have erectile dysfunction. However, if you ever wake up with an erection, it's not erectile dysfunction, but your brain keeping you from enjoying your life. Which goes back to my original belief of mind over matter.
