Title: What are the features shared by all carbohydrates?

I answered "carbohydrates have a monomer called monosaccharides, small polymers called oligosaccharides, and the large polymer called polysaccharides," but I'm not sure if this is what they are asking.

how about:

a) contain C, H and O with the H and O in a 2:1 ratio like water

b) glucose monomers are connected by dehydration synthesis (removal of a water molecule)

c) each releases 4 cal per g of energy when digested

That's all I've got tonight.  Good luck
