I know(think) its not B or D.

Although I'm not 100% about the other choices, think about D.. I'd pick that.
Why would the ECM be hydrophobic? You need water and plasma to flow freely there. Also consider how the phospholipids of the plasma membranes assemble themselves.. hydrophobic inwards, hydrophilic outwards. It just makes sense for the ECM to be hydrophilic.
