Students at different ages and grade levels are certainly very different from one another, but just how different are they? Identify a particular grade at which you might be teaching (kindergarten, third grade, etc.); if you like, you may also identify a specific subject area you will be teaching. Then describe age-related characteristics you are likely to find in your students in the following aspects of development, and give a specific example to illustrate each characteristic you describe:
   a. Cognitive development (describe two characteristics from a Piagetian perspective and two characteristics from the perspective of contemporary cognitive psychology)
   b. Language development (describe one characteristic)
   c. Personal or social development (describe one characteristic)
   d. Moral development (describe one characteristic)
Note: An "age-related characteristic" is one that is found at some ages and/or developmental stages but not at others.
