Stabilizing selection favours the intermediate (i.e. moderately tall individuals) Directional selection favours only one extreme (i.e. either really tall individuals or really short individuals) So disruptive selection would increase the number of individuals with both extreme phenotypes, and directional selection would favour a certain extreme phenotypes. |
