Xylem tissue constitutes the tubules that carry water and nutrients to the canopy. In the leaves of the canopy photosynthesis occurs using chlorophyll to convert water and nutrients into sugar. The sugar is distributed back down through the phloem tubules to feed the plant cells. All higher plants, angiosperms and conifers, have xylem and phloem in them, although the xylem and phloem are situated differently between the two.

Think "up high - xy(lem), flow downhill phlo(em)"

A picture of a pine or fir tree will satisfy your assignment.
