Title: Does Artificial Selection help protect Endangered species?

It can be used to help protect endangered species, when used correctly to maintain genetic diversity through keeping records so that the species does not become a few inbred lineages, and through culling of defective individuals.

It can also harm a species through deliberate inbreeding to maintain defectives.  The most egregious example of this one is the Bengal tiger.  The white ones are inbred all to heck, and most white ones display more defects than just the white fur.  (Siegfried & Roy, U SUKK).
