Title: For batteries, what are the effects on amps when joining two or more?
Post by: Nurs19e on May 9, 2013
We have experience with the series connection in flashlights, for example, the volts add together. But what goes on for the amps. I need to know this for both series and parallel applications. Also, how does capacity (amp hours) vary when ganging batteries in parallel and also in series?

In series, the amperage will be limited by the total of the internal resistances of all the  batteries.  In parallel the current of each battery will add together.
