Title: How do you solve an equation with variables and fractions on both sides?
Post by: Mia3433 on Jun 18, 2013
Here is a sample equation:

15/7b+5=5/2b+1

I am so lost-can someone please walk me through how to do this? I really appreciate the help!
The equations are actually 15 (in the numerator) over 7b+5 (in the denominator) = 5 (in the numerator)  over 2b+1 (in the denominator)

get the like terms on one side by subtracting 15/7b to the right side, and subtracting 1 to the left side becoming:

.357b=4

then divide 4 by .357
