Title: Not liking how a lot of our old topics are locked
Post by: savio on Jun 28, 2013
Noticed a lot of cool topics from the past that we've contributed to have been locked. What's the reason behind that?

Would be nice if we could be notified of it or something. :-\

It's done automatically, sorry Savio. I've changed the interval to 11 months just so that the topic has an opportunity to resurrect in case there is an interest a year later -- it used to be at six months. The reason we decided on locking the topics (long ago) is to prevent any sort of spam.

Hope this helps.

I don't think topics should be automatically locked :-\

What if someone down the road has something new to add. Maybe after a year something changes, and so the answer needs to be revised :s So it limits what people wanting to respond to posts down the road.

I think it should be left to the topic starter or a moderator whether or not a topic should become locked.

OR if someone marks a question solved, it locks automatically.
