Title: why am i feeling the effects of these drugs so soon? Post by: iScience on Jul 11, 2013 i take oxycodon for pain medication and only having been waiting for about 20~ 30 minutes, i start feeling the effects. i thought foods take about 40 minutes or longer to get into the intestinal tracts and start getting absorbed. is the oxycodon getting absorbed through the stomach lining?

Post by: Anonymous on Jul 11, 2013 Hi, if Oxycodone was an actual opiate, I'd say the GI tract (100%), because most opioids are absorbed from the GI tract. Oxycodone, however, is a semi-synthetic opioid, but still acts gets absorbed there. What you're experiencing is probably eating the tablet on an empty stomach?
