Title: does the right side of the brain control the left eye and visa versa?
Post by: tornikkee on Aug 5, 2013
i know the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body.  Can the eyes be included as part of the "body" in this statement?  Are the eyes controlled by opposite sides of the brain, the same side they are on, or are the both controlled by a specific brain segment, and if so, is it a left-dominant segment or a right-dominant segment.  And please don't just leave me with "vision is controlled by the back of the brain".  That is helpless for the problem i am trying to solve.

There is an area of the spinal cord in the upper neck called the "decussation". Above the decussation, all the nerves and parts of the brain control the parts of the body on the same side. It is below  the decussation where it switches to the opposite side.
