It is well known that vitamin C is important for a healthy immune system, and that a vitamin C deficiency can weaken our immune systems and make us more susceptible to illnesses like colds. However, placebo-controlled studies have not found that vitamin C supplements prevent colds more than placebos, particularly in well-nourished people.
