Title: What is the longest phase of mitosis, metaphase or prophase?
Post by: softballer on Oct 16, 2013
I have found conflicting answers in three textbooks and many online sources.  Please answer this and cite your source. The course professor maintains it is prophase.

Thank you all for your consideration.

We did a lab a while ago where we calculated the % of cells in each phase and it is roughly:

80% interphase
8% prophase
4% metaphase
4% anaphase
4% telophase
