Given what you know about the Bohr shift, what is the difference in O2 saturation of hemoglobin in the lungs versus hemoglobin in exercising tissues, as represented on this graph? Keep in mind that the pH of blood in the lungs is not the same as the pH of blood in exercising tissues.

Answer 1:

In lungs, oxygen dissociation is less and pH value is more, whereas in case of exercising tissue, oxygen dissociation will be high and pH will be less. If the pH in the blood is high the O2 saturation curve moves left, and if the pH in the blood is low the O2 saturation curve moves to the right. In the given diagram, the O2 saturation curve for lungs is at a value of 100 percent and O2 saturation curve for exercising tissue is at a value of 43 percent. So, the difference of these two values is 57 percent.

out of all those numbers only 4 of them are the ones that youneed. 43%, 30mmHg Po2 & 100% with 100mmHg PO2...
There fore the difference is 100-43=57%

How is hemoglobin's affinity for oxygen affected by the presence or absence of oxygen?
Rank hemoglobin molecules with the described conditions from most likely to bind oxygen molecules to most likely to release oxygen molecules. (For help approaching this problem, open Hint 1.)

answer

3 bound 100mg, 1 bound 100 mg, 3 bound 40 mg, 1 bound 40 mg ....order from left to right
