Cellulose: is produced by plants and is a structural form; linear structure with glucose molecules connected by beta(1-->4) linkages; mammals do not have the enzyme needed to break this type of linkage. Glycogen: is produced by animals and is a nutritional form; branched form with alpha(1-->4) linkages with alpha(1-->6) linkages at the branch points. |
