If the half-life of a radioactive isotope is 3 million years what percent of the isotope is left after 9 million years.

There will be 1/8th or 12.5% of the isotope left after 9 million years because that is enough time for 3 half lives. (1/2)*(1/2)*(1/2)=1/8=12.5%.
